TEHRAN -- Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini has disagreed with imposing a ban on British publishers and expressed hope that Britain would not repeat its incorrect behavior again.

Britain refused to issue visas for several Iranian publishers who planned to participate in the London Book Fair which ran from April 11 to 13.
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Hosseini said that Iran certainly disapproves of Britain’s behavior. “They don’t like Iranian thoughts and ideas to be discussed in their country, but we hope they will not repeat their unreasonable behavior again.
“Iran will not behave like them. Today, journalists and reporters can easily come to Iran and hold talks with our officials. They can visit any of the important sites in our country, but we are not given the same permission. This shows they are not allowing freedom of the press in the world,” he added.
Hosseini said that organizers are doing their best to hold a more systematic book fair this year. The Tehran Book Fair will run from May 4-14.
